Jan - July 2002, GARBAGE COLLECTION & BREAK-INS, From Paul Mundy

1. Garbage collection has changed to Wednesdays for the north and west sides of the lake. Please do not leave your garbage at the road when you leave on Sunday - take it with you! For those on Tammy's Cove Road, there is no garbage collection! Instead ther are two bear-proof dumpsters at the entrance of the road. Only household garbage should be put in the dumpsters, anything else should be taken to the dump. PLEASE ADVISE ANY VISITORS AND GUESTS OF THERE REQUIREMENTS.

2. BREAK-INS ON THE LAKE There have been a number of break-ins on the lake lately. It would be wise to get to know your neighbors so that a stranger would be more noticeable. A recipricating occasional property check would be to your mutual advantage. Noting the license number, make/model color and year of any unknown vehicles may be of use if a break-in does occur.

Nov - Dec 2001, HIGH WATER WARNING, From Paul Mundy

1. The lake water is very high this fall due to a "lot" of rain since August. A few people are quite worried about the damage that may be done in the Spring. I have heard that some residents with boat houses at the waters edge have found that it is now being submerged. If the water level remains high throughout the winter the accumulated ice and snow buildup will produce very high water level / shoreline conditions. When the ice begins to move in the early Spring docks, buildings and shorelines will be subjected to the usual movement but at a much higher point. The damage could be quite costly. Property owners may want to inspect their shorelines and remove or find a means of protecting what is there if it is at all feasible.

Nov - Dec 2001, BREAK-INS ON THE PENINSULA, From Paul Mundy

2. There have been a number of break-ins on the peninsula since September. The people responsible have just backed up their vehicle to the buildings and done a thorough job of taking wharever they desired. Property owners might want to arrange to have their buildings inspected by a neighbour, a service or get there themselves this Fall. They should also contact their insurance companies and find ways to protect their property while they are away. Curtains on the windows, a radio playing, installing a gate at the road, leaving a light on, posting a sign in a window that states there are no guns, ammunition, stereos or alcohol are all ways to discourage unwanted visitors.

I will be asking Barry to include some of this in his Winter newsletter as well, but that may be too late for the next victim.
