"Get To Know Your Neighbour BBQ"

Thanks Wayne & Lorlee

Thanks
Many thanks to Lorlee & Wayne Cunliffe, and Tonya & John Malott for organizing the 1st Annual Tammy's Cove "Get To Know Your Neighbour Road Party and BBQ" "There are many new families who have bought homes and cottages on Tammy's Cove Road on Miller Lake and we all see each other walking up and down the road. Why don't we meet at the Cunliffe's home and get to know who our new neighbours are and see old friends" says Wayne.

How It Started
With this theme in mind, Lorlee, Wayne, Tonya and John went about organizing the get-to-gether. Notices were delivered to all the families on Tammy's Cove Road informing them of plans for a pot-luck supper on September 27, 2003 and each family was asked to bring their favourite dish, cutlery, chairs and beverage. Wayne provided a choice of BBQ steak or chicken done to your perfection (at a nominal cost) along with tea and coffee.

Find A Friend Treasure Hunt and Bingo
A fun "Find A Friend Treasure Hunt - Bingo" was organized by Barbara Chester. The game required you to find 25 people at the BBQ who had specific qualifications, such as owning a sail boat, skidoo, kayak, being retired, or had hiked the Bruce Trail this year. This was a great way to meet new friends and find out what their interests were. Once your bingo card was filled out with the names of people meeting the requirements, the bingo started. Barb drew names from a hat of those that were there and you crossed out that person on your bingo card. A straight line in any direction got you one of the great prizes which you could enjoy for the rest of the evening :-)

New Name Signs At Head Of Tammy's Cove Road
Wayne had noticed that several of the name signs at the entrance to Tammy's Cove road needed repair and one was completely knocked down. He indicated a willingness to rebuild a new structure with new signs over the winter if the costs of the material could be covered.

If you would like to contribute or are new on the road and would like your name added to those who are already there, contact Wayne by phone at (519) 795-7475 or by Email at Wayne Cunliffe and he will include you on the new listing.

Great Food
The BBQ provided a fabulous taste of fine food as many great dishes were brought which fed the appetites of all who came! Going back for seconds was no problem as there was plenty to go around, several times over. Many fine desserts topped off the meal and for those who were struggling to keep to their diets, needless to say, fell off the wagon.:-(

Warm Camp Fire
As the evening grew cooler, a nice camp fire warmed those who stayed to enjoy the music and provided a great spot for the kids to toast and burn a few marshmallows.

Here are a few photos of the evening, enjoy
